The 5th National Meeting on Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (ENICIB) was successfully held on 21 May 2026 at the Grand Auditorium of the University of Algarve, in Faro. Organised by AICIB – the Portuguese Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation, with the support of ABC Meetings and the University of Algarve, the event marked International Clinical Trials Day and brought together around 400 participants, including speakers, partners and leading organisations involved in clinical research and clinical trials.
Throughout the day, participants discussed some of the key challenges and opportunities facing clinical research and biomedical innovation, with a particular focus on European investment in
clinical research, clinical studies involving medical devices, Real World Evidence (RWE) and cross-border clinical trials. The programme featured renowned national and international experts and also included the presentation of the AICIB Awards 2025, the ENVOLVER+ Scholarships and the RWE Excellence Award.
This edition was also supported by several organisations committed to promoting research and innovation in healthcare. Sponsors included Ambidata (Gold), MSD, NTT DATA and Roche (Silver), as well as AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Bial, Gilead, Lilly and IQVIA (Bronze), whose contribution was instrumental to the success of the event.
The organisers consider this fifth edition to have been highly successful, highlighting the outstanding scientific quality of the presentations, the strong participation of stakeholders from across the sector and the collaborative spirit that characterised the event. The organisers also reaffirm their commitment to continuing to promote initiatives that contribute to the development of the Algarve region, fostering collaboration between people, institutions and businesses, while creating new opportunities for cooperation and sustainable development.

O 5.o Encontro Nacional de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica (ENICIB) decorreu com sucesso no passado dia 21 de maio de 2026, no Grande Auditório da Universidade do Algarve, em Faro. Organizado pela AICIB – Agência de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica, com o apoio do ABC Meetings e da Universidade do Algarve, o encontro assinalou o Dia Internacional dos Ensaios Clínicos e reuniu cerca de 400 participantes, entre oradores, parceiros e entidades de referência ligadas à investigação clínica e aos ensaios clínicos.
Ao longo do dia foram debatidos alguns dos principais desafios e oportunidades da investigação clínica e da inovação biomédica, com destaque para o investimento europeu na investigação
clínica, os estudos com dispositivos médicos, o Real World Evidence (RWE) e os ensaios clínicos transfronteiriços.O programa contou com a participação de reconhecidos especialistas nacionais e internacionais e incluiu ainda a entrega dos Prémios AICIB 2025, das Bolsas ENVOLVER+ e do RWE Excellence Award.
Esta edição contou ainda com o apoio de diversas organizações empenhadas na promoção da investigação e da inovação em saúde.
