In the last years Rui had the opportunity to interact and work with worldwide top experts in neuroscience scientific field, which made him acquired expertise as a scientific researcher. In this field Rui Costa published several peer reviewed papers, many as first author. He was awarded with a grant to perform a proposed scientific project as Principal investigator.
Throughout his PhD worked in Alzheimer’s disease topic. Presently, is involved in different projects that aim the study of axonal maturation, development, and axonal regeneration mechanisms as well.
According to his scientific profile Rui O. Costa was selected to do Science Communication among young students. During 2 years he gave classes to young students (13-16 years old) in which biology, chemistry and physics were approached in a way that could stimulate their interest for science.
